Bringing care at Mayo Clinic back home.
Medical Director
Dr Tej K Khalsa MD MSc FRCPC
Dr Tej K Khalsa (she/they) is a Consultant to the World Health Organization's Department of Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health. She is the recipient of two funding awards from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control for her work in patient education. Dr Khalsa is also a local UBC medicine grad who completed her training in General Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic's Rochester campus. While serving as Mayo Faculty she led their global clinical practice in mind body medicine.
In 2020 the murder of George Floyd one hour from her home forced Dr Khalsa to ask what she was doing to help create a better future for our children. The decision to return home, and advance mind body medicine as a publicly funded and justice driven clinical service has become her chief devotion. The clinic serves patients virtually province-wide and is predominantly focused on serving underserved populations, with a central focus on patients with IBD (Crohn's or Colitis) as well as patients with Disorders of Gut Brain Interaction (DGBI).
