Reclaiming what matters most

What is Mind Body Medicine?

Mind Body Medicine explores the ‘mind-body society axis’: supporting you in navigating the things life might be bringing your way, specifically how they can ‘get under the skin’ to impact everything from how you think and feel, to brain architecture and disorders of gut brain interaction.

What do appointments involve?

Our care plan together focuses on what matters most to you. Most appointments involve deep listening around what feels heaviest, hardest, or has got you feeling stuck. Together, we will explore the current research on disorders of gut brain interaction (DGBI) as well as evidence based solutions to optimize coping with symptoms so you can get you and your life back.

We may also focus on how to better manage work-related stress, challenges at home (such as caregiving, or grief and loss), lifestyle factors like sleep, exercise, and diet; or compassionately explore trauma.

Appointments are about 30 minutes each, through phone, video, or in-person and covered under MSP.

What services does the clinic offer?

We offer you evidence-based, trauma-informed psychotherapy, mindfulness-based CBT, gut hypnotherapy, and lifestyle medicine. We also spend a significant time on education ex:  stress and resilience neurophysiology and 'tools', the brain-gut axis, central sensitization and chronic fatigue, the evidence to support lifestyle medicine including meditation, diet, sleep hygiene etc.

What does the clinic NOT offer?

-We do not offer a cure for DGBI, but we will do everything we can to support you in getting you and your life back.

-We do not do diagnostic testing or prescribe drugs. We might however, occasionally taper some medications, but will do so in collaboration with your family doctor and relevant specialists.
-We do not prescribe herbs and supplements, however, we are happy to offer you an audit of your herbs and supplements to ensure safety and rule out drug-supplement interactions. We will also discuss with you the evidence (or lack of available evidence) for certain products.
-We do not offer naturopathic or functional medicine. However, we will work collaboratively with all members of your healthcare team.
-We do not offer couple’s counseling or counseling for personality disorders (these things are outside the scope of our practice).
